Thaze Competition is a professional sports car racing team competing in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge championship, a supporting series to IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. We are a customer-driven and performance-focused organization with our initial racing program based on Mercedes-AMG GT4 racecars, expanding to other sportscar racing platforms in 2023 and beyond.

Race Mechanic, Birmingham, Michigan
We are looking for a full time race mechanic join our Birmingham, Michigan-based team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the the support, upkeep, maintenance, setup, and running of the team’s race cars. This includes assembly, servicing, and operation of the cars both in the workshop and at racing events, while following engineering and technical procedures, and meeting deadlines.
Other responsibilities include assisting with the loading and unloading of trucks and freight, setup and dismantling of the paddock infrastructure, and maintain a high level of presentation at the shop and trackside is also expected. Other responsibilities will be assigned needed.
This position reports to our Team Manager.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and ability in all aspects of race car maintenance, including composite repairs and fabrication
- Highly detailed record keeping ability
- Experience in a similar role in high level motorsport environment
- Ability to work at the highest standards, including under short timelines
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively with all team members
- Flexible, positive, and team-oriented attitude
- Use of common workplace software tools
- Ability to travel internationally

Technical Director, Birmingham, Michigan
We are looking for a Technical Director to join our Birmingham, Michigan-based team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the development of vehicles and automotive products, including design, engineering, composites, machining, production, assembly testing, and inspection.
The ideal candidate should have multiple years of experience in professional motorsport, have a proven track record of leading and delivering significant projects, possess excellent communication and collaborative skills, and have a clear and holistic understanding of motorsport engineering.
The Technical Director will work closely with the motorsports engineering team and supervise the in-house engineering team.
This position reports directly to the Team Principals.
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- Ability to work alone or in groups one multiple projects with variable and tight timelines
- Comfortable while working in diverse groups, at various locations, and in different/demanding environments
- A strong aptitude for mechanical systems, mechanical design, and application of engineering fundamentals to achieve tangible results
- Knowledge of motorsports manufacturing processes
- Ability to create planned strategies for problem solving, including test planning and leading testing processes
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with CAD systems and design-based simulation software
- Capable of creating production-quality engineering drawings
- Use of common workplace software tools
- Proficient with motorsports data collection and analysis systems
- Ability to travel internationally
